ICE ICE BABY...15 cool uses for ice cube trays

Besides ICE, there are countless uses for an ice cube tray, these are my favourites, some I`ve tried, and others on a long list of things I want to do!

1. Baby food: Done this, it makes perfect portions and can keep the purees for months! As baby gets older, you can freeze different types of meals, like spaghetti, stews etc..

2.Soups, sauces and stocks:This is great!!!Add cubes to any meal , perfect for cooking rice, meat, veggies, anything really!!

3.Coffee: If you love iced coffee drinks in the summer, this is perfect!!just brew some java, add some coffee cubes, and some cream!! Ahhh delicious!

4. Lemon/Lime juice:A favourite of mine,Great for drinks( mmm...margaritas!),cooking, in a glass of  juice or lemonade, or can be added to flavor a glass of water!Pieces of actual lemon or lime can be added to make it extra zesty!

5.Snack portioning: If you have kids, this is awesome, they never finish a snack before they want another! this way they have multiple choices, and the portions are just right for little tummies!

6.Ice Cream/Yogurt:when you have kids, you know that they hardly ever finish a whole ice cream cone, this way, there is no waste, and sometimes room for seconds!Let it stand out of the freezer for a couple of minutes, it will be softer and easier to separate into tray! Add some yogurt cubes into the blender when making smoothies, or put a Popsicle stick in it for the kids.On hot days, they love frozen yogurt, and ice trays make good portions for them!

7.Candy/chocolate mold:These delicious treats are easy and fun to make!!Melt semi-sweet chocolate and add anything you like, nuts, fruits, peanut butter, the options are limitless!Microwave gummy bears and freeze!

8.Juice:OK, so this one is a no brainer!Perfectly portioned Popsicles for tots, add to juice, drinks or water, even add different fruit pieces , or add fruit pieces into regular ice.Make it however you want!!

9.Spices, herbs, and Pesto: In winter, fresh herbs are hard to find, so take advantage in the summer to stock up ! Add fresh herbs or spices, chopped or whole, with a little water. Can be added to absolutely anything!

10.Egg whites:When Baking, recipes often call for just egg yolks. Save your whites, and add one per cube, like that you know exactly how many you have.

11.Soap:This one I haven`t tried!! But always wanted to make soap.Great family activity, and cute little ice cube molds can entice any 2 year old to wash their hands!!

12.Crayon Molds:Any one with kids knows the crayons break, the paper peels, and they become the outcast crayon that no one uses!!This is a really cool idea that the kids will love, and the lonely crayons will be used again!!!!Just microwave!

13.Topping bar:This is nifty.Ice cream sundaes, salads, baked potatoes, homemade pizza. The possibilities are endless.

14.Junk/storage: Anything collected off tables, out of pockets, washing machines, dressers, in my house the floor. They need a home too!! instead of dumping it somewhere else, put it in the tray and keep it neat. find lost buttons, find lots of change, beads, crayons, pins. You`ll know where to look first for lost items.

15.Jello Shots: Last but not least! Instead of using those mini shot glasses that the shots never really come out of, use ice cube trays, eco-friendly and $$$ saving. You can even add gummy candy in each cube! Place cubes on a tray or in a bowl.No matter how it`s served a shot is a shot, and if there are shots, it will definitely be a great party!!

some different ice trays  that would make any of these that much cooler...

Enjoy!!!
